The Miami Valley Composite Squadron is comprised of both senior and cadet members, conducting both the senior program and cadet program.

The focus of OH-284 is on cadet programs to include Character Development, Leadership, Emergency Services, Physical Fitness, and Aerospace activities.

Squadron Commander Bio
Maj Hartung is a 1986 graduate of the US Air Force Academy with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He earned a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1991. His primary duties throughout his career were as a Test Manager of various weapon systems. He has been involved with A-7, A-10, F-15, F-22, MQ-1, MQ-9, and RQ-4 aircraft testing. In addition, he served a tour in the Space Control Center of Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station. He completed his USAF career at the Nevada Test & Training Range.
Maj Hartung retired from active duty in 2006 and has since served as an Engineering Support Contractor, currently supporting the F-15 System Program Office.
Maj Hartung joined Civil Air Patrol in 2004 and served until 2008. After moving to Ohio, he joined the Miami Valley Composite Squadron in 2021 and has served as Squadron Commander since May 2023.
