Ohio Wing Conference 2023 to be Held on April 14-16 at Cherry Valley Lodge
Newark, Ohio - The Ohio Wing Conference 2023, hosted by the Civil Air Patrol, will be held on April 14-16 at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio. The conference will bring together Civil Air Patrol members from across the Wing for a weekend of education, training, and socializing.
The conference will kick off on Friday evening with an informal opening reception, providing attendees with the opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues from across the Wing. On Saturday, there will be a general session followed by break-out sessions, and social time. The conference will culminate with a formal banquet on Saturday evening. Commanders are also invited to attend a commander’s call on Sunday morning.
The Ohio Wing Conference 2023 planning group has secured fantastic accommodations at the Cherry Valley Lodge, and attendees will need to make their own hotel reservations. The conference promises to be a great opportunity for Civil Air Patrol members to come together, share ideas and best practices, and connect with colleagues.

Ohio Wing Announces Unique Opportunity for CAP Members to Learn from Air National Guard's 179th Airlift Wing and CAP Cyber Programs
Mansfield, Ohio - The Ohio Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is excited to announce a unique opportunity for CAP cadets and seniors to interact with and learn from members of the Air National Guard's 179th Airlift Wing, the Air National Guard's first Cyberspace Wing, and CAP Cyber Programs. The event will take place on April 29, 2023, from 1330 to 1600 at the Mansfield Lahm Air Base located at 164 Harrington Memorial Rd, Mansfield OH 44903.
The activity is on an active military base, and CAPR 39-1 (Civil Air Patrol Uniform Regulation) must be followed. Participants will have a rare chance to engage with professionals from the 179th Airlift Wing, learn about the cutting-edge cyber technology and strategies, and gain valuable insights into the roles of cyber experts in the Air National Guard and Civil Air Patrol.
The Ohio Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is excited to provide this opportunity for its members to learn from experts in the field and build their skills in cyber technology. This event is a testament to the partnership between the Air National Guard and Civil Air Patrol and will be an incredible learning experience for all participants.

Great Lakes Region of Civil Air Patrol Announces 2022 Annual Award Winners
Cleveland, Ohio – The Ohio Wing of Civil Air Patrol is proud to announce its 2022 Annual Award Winners. The winners include three individuals who were also selected as Great Lakes Region winners. The awards will be presented at the 2023 Ohio Wing Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
The Ohio Wing Commander, Col Peter Bowden, extended his congratulations to the winners. "I am honored to congratulate our 2022 Award Winners," said Col Bowden. "Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your service to the Civil Air Patrol and your contributions to our mission."

Ohio Wing of Civil Air Patrol Prepares for Search and Rescue Exercise Training Exercise Weekend

Cleveland, Ohio – The Ohio Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is gearing up for an upcoming Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) training weekend from April 21 to April 23. This training event will provide participants with an opportunity to practice real-world scenarios, improve their skills and techniques, and better prepare for emergency situations.
The SAREX training weekend will take place at a designated site and will include various training activities, such as navigation, search and rescue techniques, communication protocols, and emergency procedures. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in team building exercises, leadership training, and operational planning sessions.
"This training exercise weekend is a great opportunity for our members to sharpen their skills and prepare for any emergency situations that may arise," said Ohio Wing Commander, Col Peter Bowden. "We are committed to providing our members with the necessary training and resources to support our mission of serving the community."
Ohio Unit 085 in Great Lakes Region of Civil Air Patrol Welcomes New Commander
Columbus, Ohio – Civil Air Patrol's Ohio Unit 085 in the Great Lakes Region is proud to announce that Captain James McKenna will be taking over as the new commander, replacing Major Joseph Mosher. The change of command ceremony will take place on March 22, 2023.
Captain McKenna is excited to take on the role of commander and is proud to lead a unit that places great emphasis on training. He believes that this dedication to training will continue to make Ohio Unit 085 the premier location for missions providing purpose.
"I am honored to be taking on this leadership role for Ohio Unit 085," said Captain McKenna. "The dedication to training within this unit, that Maj Mosher has developed, has been remarkable, and I am excited to continue this tradition."
Major Joseph Mosher, who served as the unit's previous commander, expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the members of Ohio Unit 085 during his tenure. "I am so proud to be part of this unit because of all the accomplishments and how well you represented OH-085 and the Ohio Wing," said Major Mosher. "I could not have done this task of running this organization without members like yourselves, and I'm very proud of how accomplished you have become."
Major Mosher will continue to serve as the unit's Emergency Services (ES) Training officer and is confident that Captain McKenna will continue the great track record of the unit.
The Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer organization that serves as the civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The Ohio Wing of Civil Air Patrol, of which Ohio Unit 085 is a part, is committed to promoting aerospace education, providing humanitarian aid, and supporting emergency services.
